My own father's death was a catalyst for thinking about becoming a celebrant. Our family wrote and carried out his funeral which many people said was the best funeral they had ever attended. This made me reflect that some funerals do not do justice to the departed and I decided to train as a celebrant.

I will work with you and your funeral director to create a ceremony that is special and true to your loved one. This can be a very stressful time so I will listen to you, write a ceremony which you then approve and then I will deliver it for you. From my own experience it is important to have the family involved in as much, or as little, of the ceremony as they would like. We can include contributions from children either by reading their reflection/memories of the person who has died or using their pictures. Similarly adult family and friends may have readings, reflections or music to be included.

I have worked in the community, nursing those who are dying and supporting them and their families which has given me an added understanding of those who are grieving.
